These standards describe the publishing goals for Stories and the process readers should expect.
Accuracy and sourcing
- Use primary material when it is available, including the original video, broadcast, statement, or official page.
- Do not invent quotations, identities, dates, outcomes, or source links.
- Separate verified facts from commentary, interpretation, and uncertainty.
- Credit third-party material and link to the actual source when a usable source URL is present.
Headlines and presentation
Headlines and images should reflect the article and should not create a materially false impression. Graphic, sponsored, fictional, or AI-assisted material should be labelled when that context is relevant.
Corrections
Material factual errors should be corrected promptly after verification. See the Corrections Policy for how to report a problem.
Advertising and conflicts
Advertising should be distinguishable from editorial content. A commercial relationship should not determine factual conclusions, and a relevant conflict should be disclosed.
